ジャクソン一家はグリーン一家をストラットフォードへ連れて行く予定である。ジャクソンさんはそこで彼らが何を見たいか思案している。
Mrs. J： ジェームズは、あなた方がストラットフォードで劇を見たくなるんじゃないかと思っているわ。
Dr. G ： 見る時間が十分あると思いますか？
Mrs. J： 電話して、演目は何で、開園時間はいつかを聞いたんです。
Dr. G ： で、何ですって？
Mrs. J： 何日に来る予定で、何時にそこに着くのかを聞かれました。
Dr. G ： なるほど。何を見られるかは、何日の何時に行くかによるわけですね。
【Speak 1】
① Ask her if she’s going to come by taxi.
② Ask him if he’s going to get back early.
③ Ask her if she’s going to stay home.
④ Ask him if he’s going to rent a car.

【Speak 4】
① The doctor said to Jane, “How do you feel ?”
―The doctor asked Jane how she felt.
② Jane said she ached all over － her neck, her legs, her feet.
―Jane said, “I ache all over － my neck, my legs, my feet.”
③ He said, “How long have you been feeling bad ?”
―He asked 〔her〕 how long she’d been feeling bad.
④ She said, “I slipped and fell off a ladder three days ago.”
―She said she had slipped and fallen off a ladder three days before 〔that〕.
⑤ He told her to open her mouth, show him her tongue and say “Ah.”
―He said 〔to her〕, “Open your mouth, show me your tongue and say ‘Ah.’”
⑥ Jane said, “What should I do, Doctor ?”
―Jane asked the doctor what she should do.
⑦ He said, “Don’t move too much. Come and see me again next week.”
―He told her not to move too much and to come and see him again the next week.
⑧ Jane thanked the door.
―Jane said, “Thank you, Doctor.”
【Scene 2】 （間接話法（５）誘い）
二つの選択肢がある。
Mrs. J： 土曜日の2時から 『マクベス』、日曜日の1時からは 『ハムレット』 をやっているそうですよ。
Dr. G ： 子供たちの好みはどちらでしょう。
Mrs. J： 彼らに選ばせたらどうかしら。
Dr. G ： 実際、『ハムレット』 はかなり長いですからね。4時間ぐらいありますよ。
Mrs. J： 私たちみんなには長すぎるかもしれませんね。ここに夕食までには戻ってきたいですから。
Dr. G ： それじゃあ土曜日にしてはどうですか。そうすれば、もし 『マクベス』 を見たければ、見ることができますから ね。
