ロブはトムを帝国戦争博物館へ連れて行った。
Rob: 友達に、第二次世界大戦中のロンドン爆撃について校誌用の記事を書くように頼まれているんだ。
Tom: それでここへきたかったの?
Rob: うん。古いニュース映画からできたビデオがたくさんあるからね。
Tom: テレビでいくつか古い戦争のニュース映画を見たけど、本当に怖かったな。
Rob: イーストエンドの爆撃に関するこのビデオは見るべきだな。
Tom: 僕の予感にすぎないけど、これは楽しめそうもないな。
【Speak 1】

① Rob said, “I want to visit the Imperial War Museum.”

③ Rob said, “A friend of mine asked me to write an article. I’m going to look at some World War Ⅱ newsreels.”
―Rob said a friend of his had asked him to write an article and that he was going to look at some World War Ⅱ newsreels.
④ Tom said, “I saw some old war newsreels and they were really scary.”
―Tom said that he had seen some old war newsreels and that they had been really scary.
⑤ Rob said, “I’ve found one on the bombing of the East End.”
―Rob said he’d found one on the bombing of the East End.
⑥ Tom said, “I don’t think I’m going to enjoy this.”
―Tom said he didn’t think he was going to enjoy that.
⑦ Susan called Rob and said, “Hi. We’ve been at the gate since 2.”
―Susan called Rob and said they’d been at the gate since 2.
⑧ Rob said, “It took us longer than we’d expected to see the museum.”
―Rob said it had taken them longer than they’d expected to see the museum.
⑨ Rob said to Susan, “We’ll be there in about ten minutes.”
―Rob told Susan they’d be there in about ten minutes.
⑩ Mary said, “I just can’t wait to see Diana’s gorgeous gowns!”
―Mary said she just couldn’t wait to see Diana’s gorgeous gowns.
【Scene 2】 (相関接続詞)
宮殿の正門でロブとトムを待っている間、スーザンとメアリーは将来の仕事について話し始める。
Mary : 将来は何になろうと思っているの?
Susan: 看護師よ。母も祖母も看護師だったの。あなたは?
Mary : あら、まだわからないわ。医師か看護師だと思うけど。
Susan: 私はフローレンス・ナイチンゲールのような親切で優しい看護師になりたいの。
(二人は、後ろからロブとトムが現れたことに気づかない。)
Rob : 困ったことにお前は親切でも優しくもないからなあ!
Susan: あなたたちどこから来たの?いつから私たちの話を聞いていたのよ?
